Sennheiser has announced that Dr. Andreas Wilzeck, head of spectrum policy and standards, and Vaughan John, spectrum policy and standards manager, will speak at DECT World 2025, taking place on November 12-13 in Munich, Germany.
Both will deliver presentations focused on the emerging DECT NR+ standard and its potential to advance wireless audio technology and global spectrum access.
On November 12, John will present “NR+ Radio Spectrum Opportunities,” examining the global perspectives and opportunities for DECT NR+ to access frequency bands worldwide. His talk will highlight CEPT activities in the 3.8–4.2 GHz range, explore the potential of spectrum sharing, and underline the importance of regulatory collaboration in shaping the future of the DECT ecosystem.
That same day, Dr. Wilzeck will introduce the DECT Forum Academic Industry Roundtable (AIR), a new platform designed to promote research partnerships between academia and industry. Drawing on collaborative initiatives such as the Franco-German MERCI project, he will illustrate how joint R&D efforts are accelerating the development of next-generation wireless audio technologies.
On the second day of DECT World, during the Pro Audio session, Dr. Wilzeck will deliver “The Path from Vision to Reality: DECT NR+ in Wireless Audio.” His presentation will trace the evolution from early 3GPP studies to advanced bi-directional Wireless Multichannel Audio Systems (WMAS, EN 300 422-based) and DECT NR+ implementations. He will also provide updates on the work of ETSI TC DECT, covering topics such as interoperability, scheduled access, network cooperation, and spectrum management.
Dr. Wilzeck will discuss how DECT NR+, as a user-deployable IMT-2020 (5G) technology, can integrate into networked audio workflows via OpenStack-based infrastructures and the DECT Forum AIR project. The talk will show how these developments are paving the way for scalable and secure wireless systems suited to conferencing, education, intercom, broadcast, and live production.
“Audio teams need wireless delivery solutions that are predictable, secure, and easy to deploy at scale,” said Dr. Wilzeck. “DECT NR+ brings a modern, standards-based foundation that builds on DECT’s strengths while unlocking new opportunities for low-latency streaming, dense deployments, and end-to-end audio networks.”
