Vue is deploying the Auri Auracast-based assistive listening system from Ampetronic and Listen Technologies across its cinema estate in the UK and Ireland.
The system has so far been installed across 200 screens at 20 Vue cinemas, representing more than 28% of admissions across the circuit.
Auri uses Auracast broadcast audio to transmit venue sound directly to compatible hearing aids, cochlear implants, headphones and earbuds. Dedicated Auri receivers are also available for visitors without Auracast-enabled devices.
The platform can additionally carry audio description for visually impaired customers and can be used by neurodivergent visitors who may prefer a more controlled listening experience.
Vue selected the system for its audio quality, low latency, reliability and ease of deployment.
“Partnering with Ampetronic | Listen Technologies to install Auri is the next step on that journey, helping to remove barriers and deliver crystal-clear audio to every seat,” said Narinder Shergill, general manager at Vue UK and Ireland.
Auri transmitters can broadcast to an unlimited number of receiving devices within their coverage area and can be mounted on walls or ceilings. The system can also operate alongside existing assistive listening infrastructure.
Management across multiple sites is handled through Auri Manager, a Windows application used to configure and monitor transmitters and receivers across the network.
According to Ampetronic and Listen Technologies, the Vue deployment is one of the first large-scale implementations of Auracast technology within the cinema sector.
“This installation of Auri in Vue Cinemas marks a major milestone in the adoption of Auracast technology within the cinema industry,” said Craig Davey, national sales manager UK and Ireland at Ampetronic | Listen Technologies.
“The rollout highlights Vue’s commitment to improving accessibility and offering a more convenient and personalised listening experience. It also showcases the growing momentum behind Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast as the future standard for public venue accessibility.”
Auri is already deployed at other UK locations including the University of Oxford, Brighton Station, Everyman Theatre and Birmingham Hippodrome.
Vue operates 91 cinemas and more than 850 screens across the UK and Ireland.
