Showpro has installed an Analog Way Aquilon RS6 and four CorePlay Solo media players at Westfield Century City shopping mall in Los Angeles to support control and playback across a network of digiLED screens.
The installation gives the mall enhanced control of six major LED displays used for advertising, live events and entertainment activations across the site.
The Aquilon RS6 provides master control for the screens, including two 30m x 5m displays used for subscription advertising content. One is mounted on the side of the parking structure facing into the mall, while the other is positioned above the food court.
A 7m x 4m atrium screen is used for advertising during mall hours and can be taken over by on-site staff for live events, including playback, content control and IMAG.
Ryan Kayson, director of audio video at Showpro, said: “Before, we had been driving just the atrium screen with a switcher in the control room, but with the installation of the new digiLED screens we needed more horsepower so we could take over full control of all of the screens.”
The four CorePlay Solo media players provide playback for high-end live events hosted in the mall. Additional displays include smaller LED screens above the escalator and at the P1 and P2 parking levels, plus a double-sided portrait screen in front of the Wine Bar.
Showpro selected the Aquilon RS6 for its reliability in continuous-use environments. Kayson said the mall has a “flagship production facility” that is being used as a model for other Westfield-branded malls.
Since the installation, Westfield Century City has hosted three special events linked to movie releases at the on-site AMC Theater, with the atrium used for red-carpet and step-and-repeat activity while the screens displayed event content, film footage and trailers.
Kayson added: “We actually have more headroom than we need, which is great for whatever future endeavours we will need to manage: We deliberately overbuilt with the future in mind.”
