Event technology company Visual Europe Group is involved in a big LED project at the Budapest Multifunctional Sports and Event Hall in Népliget, one of the largest handball arenas in Europe.
Visual Europe Project was responsible for the design and implementation of the LED wall and digital signage system in the 50,000 square metre hall.
The biggest challenge of the project was to create a 216 square-metre CUBE scoreboard in the arena, for which the preparations took nearly two years. The facade will house an 800 square-metre LED wall, which will be the biggest in the region. The modern and multifunctional hall has a capacity of 22,000 seats, and will host the 2022 European Men's Handball Championship.
The construction of the hall started in November 2019. The design serves a range of indoor sports: basketball, volleyball, badminton, tennis, skating, martial arts, weightlifting, fencing, gymnastics, even horse riding and motor racing thanks to the advanced technical systems in the hall.
In addition to domestic and international sport events, the hall will be able to host events that require a significant number of visitors ie conferences, large-scale concerts, shows and exhibitions.
“Our entire technical team worked on the project, which took almost two years to prepare. Our goal was to make an unusual, modern and innovative LED wall system that would serve the building. Hungary's largest CUBE scoreboard will be placed in the middle of the arena. The 800 square-metre LED wall on the facade is the largest such surface in the region.” said Szabolcs Botond, CEO of Visual Europe Group.
“Hungary's largest 12 ton CUBE scoreboard consists of exactly 216 square meters and 14 million pixels. Each side has a video wall with rounded corners. Depending on the event, the position can be changed, as it can be moved up and down freely. The impressive size of the building itself and the fact that some LED systems had to be installed on a sloping wall was challenging” explained József Hódi, COO, Visual Europe Project.
He added that the CUBE LED wall has already been completed, and the implementation of the additional systems, the LED wall on the facade and the perimeters are being installed now.
