Tateside has delivered a sustainable, self-sufficient student living concept through smart AV systems to communal student living accommodation.
Located in the shadow of the famous Battersea Power Station in London, Urbanest required a leading AV system for its new student living accommodation, turning to London-based AV integrator, Tateside, to lead the technology integration for the project.
Handling everything from the initial design through to implementation along with ongoing site servicing and maintenance, Tateside worked closely with the Urbanest team to understand the specific needs around building sustainability and function, crafting a plan for a system that would provide user-friendly technology whilst also complementing the building’s architectural and energy efficiency goals.
Students at Urbanest Battersea have access to a communal cinema room, powered by a 77-in Panasonic OLED display with integrated soundbar, featuring BYOD capability via a Playstation or laptop which can connect via the HDMI plate.
The facility includes an onsite gym and yoga studio, featuring three Bose DM3SE surface-mount loudspeakers in the training area and two pairs in the studio, with input through Audac Bluetooth plates.
A purpose-built lecture hall is home to a 20,000 lumens Epson projector with a wide throw lens for large-scale visuals, with content switching for user inputs via a Bluestream HDMI wallplate and Bluestream HDBaseT receiver.
Three meeting rooms are available on site, providing videoconferencing facilities for both students and staff at Urbanest. Two student-facing rooms are supported by Cisco Webex Room bars installed to support BYOD capability, allowing students to use the technology in the room and join on their preferred meeting platform using the on-desk Cisco touchpanel.
A staff meeting room is home to a Microsoft Teams ecosystem, requested to ensure compatibility with their preferred videoconferencing platform.
Digital signage was also installed in the various communal areas on site, including lift lobbies and reception spaces to display community announcements and eco-statistics. The signage content is managed internally by Urbanest using a Tripleplay system, with Tateside specifying and installing the screens and managing the network infrastructure. Samsung QM displays were chosen to ensure 24/7 signage coverage without screen burn.
Background audio is provided via three pairs of Bose DM5P pendant loudspeakers, matching the pendant lights in reception. All audio at Urbanest is powered by Bose PS404D amplifiers, with Dante built-in to facilitate networked audio.
