Seoul deploys ‘holographic’ police officers to deter crime
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has deployed ‘holograms’ throughout the South Korean capital, Seoul, aiming to deter crime during night hours.

Appearing at night between 7PM and 10PM, the ‘holographic’ officers appear at Jodong No. 3 Park, a busy public area in the city, offering pre-recorded messages to visitors and reminding park-goers that they are under surveillance and that swift action will be taken in case of theft or criminal activity.

Designed as a ‘smart safety device’, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency claimed that the ‘hologram’ installation saw a drop in crime in the area by approximately 22%.
