Project Starline becomes Google Beam, and adds real-time translation
Google has announced in a blog post that the 3D video communications platform known as Project Starline, will now be called Google Beam.

Google Beam uses a volumetric video model to make calls appear fully 3D from any perspective. It transforms standard 2D video streams into realistic 3D experiences, allowing users to connect in a more natural and intuitive way.

Google has also announced it is exploring speech translation with Google Beam. This feature lets users have authentic, near real-time translated conversations while maintaining voice, tone and expressions.

The first Google Beam devices from HP will be on display at InfoComm 2025 in Orlando next month, and will be offered to 'select customers' later this year.

Google is working with Diversified and AVI-SPL to bring Google Beam to businesses and organisations worldwide.
