Marquee AV opts for Bose Professional system for Roe restaurant
System integrator Marquee AV has selected a Bose Professional pro audio system for brand a new restaurant called Roe in Wood Wharf, London.

Situated in the hub of Wood Wharf, Roe is the latest addition by the team behind the critically acclaimed sister restaurants Fallow and FOWL. Named after the native deer of the British Isles, Roe continues the “conscious and creative dining” principle seen in its sister restaurants.

Shepperton-based Marquee AV was tasked with designing an audio system that provides background music during the daytime and supports DJ sets in the evening. The venue also features two private dining rooms, one of which can be used for video conferencing, which had to be incorporated into the audio design. The building’s unique layout and decor presented challenges for the audio design.

The client sought an excellent-sounding system, that would remain concealed amongst the modern, coral-reef themed décor. The circular building features glass windows across all the external walls. Although these offer a picturesque view of the South Dock, they create acoustical challenges.

The FreeSpace 3 Acoustimass series in-ceiling loudspeakers was chosen becuase it offered high-quality performance for background music, and paired with the FreeSpace 3 Acoustimass flush mounted Bass Modules, delivers strong sound for DJ sets. Strategically positioned across the venue’s main dining areas, the audio design provides a smooth and consistent sound. Their ceiling-disguised outer shell blended with the restaurant’s minimalistic design, unnoticeable behind the wooden detailing on the ceiling.

The ground floor of Roe features a bright private dining area with large windows, framed by the restaurant’s aeroponic farming system. This method of growing produce without soil, by spraying the plants with nutrients, enhances the forest-like ambience of the space. To complement this, the Bose Professional FS4CE speakers integrate into the ceiling, providing sound quality despite the reflective surfaces. The FS4CE speakers ensure that the natural, serene atmosphere of the forest-themed room is maintained while delivering clear and immersive audio for diners.

The 1st-floor private dining area, which can accommodate videoconferencing, is a valuable feature for a restaurant surrounded by corporate offices. For this, Marquee AV implemented the Bose Professional VB1, which is simple to connect to, making it easy for anyone to navigate. Completed with two FS4SE speakers; to produce crisp audio, this dining area is suitable for meetings and private gatherings.
