SoundTube’s in-ceiling speakers, designed for background music applications, and its fire signaling speakers are now available.
Three CM-BGM models, the CM52-BGM, CM52s-BGM, and CM62-BGM are shipping now and the CM82-BGM will be available shortly. The speakers feature SoundTube BroadBeam Ring technology, designed to provide improved midrange clarity and smooth off-axis performance.
With an input impedance of 16 ohms, eight speakers may be operated in stereo or four speakers may be run in mono at 4 ohms without concern for low impedances. A tuned port on the speaker baffle enhances the speakers’ musicality and bass response (55 Hz, -10 dB). The BGM speakers come with a black or white painted finish and custom colours are available.
The CM52s-BGM can fit in ceiling spaces as shallow as 3.5 inches (7.6 cm). A 6-position tap switch and transformer bypass on all units provides versatility in installation. Units include a tile bridge, UL-listed conduit clamp and paint shield; other accessories are available. UL1480 and 2043 listings are planned for all models.
The new CM82-EZ-FS and CM82-EZs-FS speakers, available later this month, meet UL 1480 UUMW requirements for fire protection signaling and come with integrated steel backboxes for compliance with UL 2043 plenum standards. The speakers incorporate an 8 inch (203 mm) polypropylene woofer with butyl rubber surround and a 1" (25.4 mm) silk tweeter, providing superior voice intelligibility with an average coverage angle of 95 degrees (2 – 10 kHz). A 10 µF capacitor is included on the input circuit for use with DC supervision systems, and a 10W transformer is included in each unit. The speakers are installed via a constant-tension, fixed-wing mounting system, and include a 21 gauge steel tile bridge. Models are available in both 3.5" short can and standard (5.75") backcan depths.
