Allen & Heath has released V1.6 firmware for its SQ series, introducing new features, quality-of-life improvements, and new compressor add-ons.
SQ engineers will now be able to add DEEP OptTronik and Bus compressors, designed for mixing live music, theatre environments, or handling AV installations.
V1.6 adds the ability to split each of the three stereo matrices into a pair of mono matrices, enabling the use of up to six mono matrices, offering new options for speaker fills and managed audio in multi-room spaces.
V1.6 also introduces a range of scene-related enhancements, with a Cue List feature to streamline scene management for quick insertion and reordering of scenes.
MIDI Show Control is also integrated to enable recall by cue number in addition to scene number, with a scene crossfade option to deliver changes between scenes in theatre applications.
Inputs and mixes can be changed between mono and stereo on a per-scene basis. Additionally, users can access SQ-Drive and the USB audio interface simultaneously, enabling simultaneous redundant recording onto both computer and SQ-Drive.
The new Deep compressors, Bus and OptTronik are available as individual purchases or as part of the Compressor Pack II bundle from the Allen & Heath website.
