Adamson expands Vergence Group with VGx loudspeaker and new subwoofers
Adamson has expanded its Vergence Group range with the launch of VGx, its largest and highest-output full-range loudspeaker in the series.

The new model builds on the transducer, wave-shaping and amplification technologies introduced with VGt, with Adamson positioning VGx for larger-scale touring, live event and high-output sound reinforcement applications.

VGx uses three M140 mid-range transducers and three NH3-V-16 high-frequency compression drivers on a newly designed 3-degree coaxial mid-high assembly. Adamson says the revised geometry delivers an additional 1.5dB of headroom per element compared with VGt.

Low-frequency performance is handled by a newly developed 18-in driver with a dual-wound voice coil, while the ND13-S driver used in VGt is deployed in VGx as a side-firing element to provide low-end support and directionality.

The loudspeaker provides 22dB of rear rejection across its operating bandwidth, with cardioid and omni presets available depending on deployment requirements.

VGx is powered by a new Class-D amplifier module, with two full-bridge channels dedicated to the low-frequency section and four half-bridge channels driving the remaining components.

Alongside VGx, Adamson has also introduced two new subwoofers for the Vergence Group range. VGd is a large-format cardioid subwoofer using two front-loaded SD21.5 transducers and two rear-loaded SD18 transducers, while VGo uses the same technology in a single-driver format.

Both subwoofers include onboard Class-D amplification, integrated rigging and low-frequency extension down to 27Hz.

Jeremiah Karni, technical brand manager at Adamson, said the launch follows two years of Vergence Group deployments and growing demand for larger systems within the range.
