Powersoft launches Prima amplifier series for streamlined installed audio
Powersoft has introduced Prima, a new compact 4-channel amplifier range designed for installed audio systems where signal processing is handled elsewhere in the chain.

The series launches with two models, Prima 164 and Prima 324, differentiated by power output. Both are aimed at low-to-mid-power applications in commercial environments including retail, hospitality, classrooms and conference rooms.

Powersoft said the range is intended to address projects where DSP, routing and control are already managed by a separate DSP, mixer or AV processor. By removing onboard DSP, Prima is designed to reduce unnecessary cost and complexity while retaining Powersoft’s amplification performance and reliability.

Both models support Hi-Z and Lo-Z operation, with each output channel independently configurable for the connected load. Auto Setup optimises amplifier parameters during first start-up to reduce commissioning time, while a fixed diagonal matrix architecture keeps signal flow predictable.

A dedicated connector also enables 1-to-all routing, allowing a single input source to feed all output channels for distributed audio applications. Power Sharing allows available power to be allocated across channels according to system requirements, while Eco Mode, Auto Standby and low-consumption operation are designed to reduce energy use over time.

The half-rack form factor allows Prima to be installed as a standalone unit, behind a display or beneath a conference table. On-board gain trimmers, status LEDs and rear-panel controls support quick adjustment without dedicated software.

Luca Giorgi, sales and business development director at Powersoft, said: ““Many of our customers are working on projects where processing is already defined elsewhere in the signal chain. Until now, the choice has often been to over-specify with DSP they don’t need, or to use commodity amplifiers that don’t meet their performance expectations. Prima closes that gap.”

Prima will be shown at InfoComm 2026 in Las Vegas on the Powersoft booth, N6653, from 17 to 19 June.
