Bombay Sapphire has unveiled a redesigned Botanical Room at its Laverstoke Mill distillery in the UK, incorporating an AV system to support a more structured and flexible visitor experience.
Delivered by Creative Technology in collaboration with Open Creative and COG Live, the installation is designed to integrate digital storytelling into the space without disrupting its architectural character. The experience focuses on the ten botanicals that define the gin, using technology to reinforce the narrative rather than dominate it.
Portrait-mounted Allsee LCD displays guide visitors through the origin and characteristics of each botanical, combining video and still imagery aligned to the flow of guided tours. The system allows hosts to control pacing while maintaining consistency in how each element is presented.
Audio has been deliberately excluded from the design, allowing the physical space, materials and lighting to remain prominent while maintaining a calm and controlled environment.
Behind the scenes, the system is supported by a networked infrastructure, with groups of displays connected to local switches integrated into bespoke cabinetry and linked to the wider IT network. This ensures synchronisation across all ten screens and supports reliable performance.
Content is managed via MySignagePortal, enabling remote updates and scheduling without requiring on-site intervention. The system is designed for simple operation, with a single power action bringing displays online and loading content automatically.
Additional interactivity is provided through a Nexmosphere RFID system, allowing curated content to be triggered using a dedicated fob during tailored or private tours.
The Botanical Room forms part of a wider upgrade programme at Laverstoke Mill, including new visitor experiences such as a cinema space and enhanced hospitality areas. The AV installation provides a flexible foundation, allowing content to evolve over time without changes to the physical infrastructure.
