The Netherlands – Lighthouse LED screens are finding favour in a burgeoning new trend for art installations taking large exterior displays and making them interactive.
One such installation is Between You & Me, located Factorium, a new school of dance and music in Tilburg. It was designed by visual artists Martin and Inge Riebeek and consists of a 5x4 array of lighthouse Pi16 elements installed by Hecla.
The interactive element is introduced by a mobile camera mounted above the screen, coupled with face detection software. The camera focuses on the face, and then moves along a track effectively panning across the background.
At the same time, the system generates appropriate slogans which are displayed on the screen.
