RGB Spectrum introduces a new H.264 graphics codec

RGB Spectrum has expanded its offerings of streaming and recording solutions with the addition of the new DSx 200 graphics codec. The DSx 200 encodes and streams graphics to 1280x1024 resolution at up to 30 frames per second. H.264 high profile compression technology optimizes image quality with maximum bandwidth efficiency.

The codec can be used as either an encoder or decoder. Graphics streams can also be decoded with commercial off-the-shelf PC software. When encoding, the unit can display a live or processed (encoded/decoded) image for signal monitoring.

External time code synchronization sources time code from a Network Time Server (NTS/NTP) and inserts it into the video stream. Operation is easy and intuitive using an embedded web-based graphical user interface.

The DSx 200 codec offers a number of innovative features, including the ability to record to a USB storage device, an on-screen display (OSD) for titling and time code, and a choice of external power or Power-over-Ethernet (PoE). The unit is available in both standalone and rackmount versions.

The combination of image quality, feature set, compact size, robust packaging, and 24/7 reliability makes the DSx 200 codec the ideal solution for mission-critical graphics-over-IP applications, in command-and-control, communications, security, industrial control, training, and simulation.
