Crestron has announced improvements to its intelligent video range through its updated Automate VX multi-camera speaker tracking system, with new visual AI direction features to enable fluid interactions during meetings and camera switching.
These interactions are enabled through cameras switching to capture speakers based on the angle of their face, with Automate VX selecting the camera that shows the clearest view of an active speaker’s face, allowing in -person attendees to glance around a room to content on displays or to look at other attendees in the room without worrying about how those moments are captured for virtual attendees.
The visual AI direction feature uses edge AI to understand the angle that a speaker is facing to switch from one camera to another so that the speaker remains well-framed and centred while avoiding less desirable shots of the side or back of someone’s head.
Automate VX also provides software tools that enable rooms to be configured ahead of time with drag-and-drop functionality, with the update offering the ability to add furniture directly to Intelligent Video Room Designer software, bringing tables and chairs to room layouts. These pieces can be scaled and moved around the layout as needed before finalising designs.
The update also brings Crestron’s Breadcrumbs feature, which collects the past 100 audio pickups from the in-room microphones to provide positional data for room usage. This data can allow IT managers to monitor usage and adjust audio pickup locations to optimise room usage and proper switching.
