Christie updates Spyder-S video processing platform with 6.1 release
Christie has updated its Spyder-S video processing platform with the release of Spyder-S 6.1, designed to expand connectivity and simplify management.

The Christie Spyder-S platform is built on a modular, distributed architecture, starting with a single 1RU frame and scaling to 16 linked frames. The platform supports more than 200 million pixels on a single canvas without changing software or workflow.

Spyder-S 6.1 adds two new frames to expand connectivity: The DisplayPort 1.4 Frame supports background inputs up to 7680x2160 at 60Hz, while the SFP Frame supports 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0, with fibre for long-distance runs.

An enhanced configuration manager is included, combined with broader internal and external controls to make the platform simpler to set up and control. Added tools include testing, source monitoring of backgrounds and Mes, and safeguards to ensure live switching goes as planned.

Background inputs and mix effects are available, including background render without consuming layers, and source mixing using a single layer instead of two, freeing capacity for more content and larger canvases.
