ViewSonic has announced a partnership with Jesus College, Oxford, to create the first dedicated Esports suite among Oxbridge colleges (Oxford and Cambridge universities).
Founded in 1571, Jesus College is one of 38 colleges at the University of Oxford, known for its forward-thinking and progressive approach to education. In collaboration with the Oxford University Gaming and Esports Society (OUGES) and commercial partner AFK Group, the college transformed its former IT room into an Esports suite.
Initially envisioned as an inclusive space for all students, the facility has evolved into a hub for collaboration and innovation, preparing students for success in the rapidly evolving digital world.
The Esports suite serves a dual purpose: acting as a hub for competitive gaming and an educational space for digital learning. This flexibility allows students to participate in activities such as coding workshops, hackathons, and game design projects. By combining gaming with academic pursuits, the suite bridges entertainment and education, catering to a wide range of student interests and aspirations.
At the heart of the Esports suite are ViewSonic Gaming monitors, specifically chosen to meet the demands of fast-paced, competitive gaming. These monitors deliver a smooth, lag-free gaming experience, ensuring students can perform at a professional level.
Complementing the gaming setup is a ViewBoard interactive display equipped with myViewBoard software. This combination enables coaches and students to screen-record gameplay, annotate key moments, and strategise effectively. The ability to save and share annotated content in various formats ensures seamless learning and strategic planning for future sessions.
