L-Acoustics sound system brings crystal clear audio to Viking Glory cruise ship
Distributor Intersonic stepped up to deliver an L-Acoustics audio system for the M/S Viking Glory cruise ship, one of the most advanced cruise ships in the Baltic Sea.

The Viking Glory is the latest addition to the Viking Line fleet, the Viking Glory required a state-of-the-art audio system to match the heightened technological offerings on the ship, boasting an L-Acoustics sound system that is designed to enhance the experience of travelling the open seas.

The Intersonic team worked with Viking Line’s AV Manager to design the L-Acoustics sound system that would balance and evenly distribute audio across eight areas of the ship, installing loudspeakers within the Vista Room Club, Vista Lounge, Torget, Algoth’s Bar, Kobba Restaurant and Bar, Fyren Restaurant as well as the Market shopping hall and a conference space.

The Vista Room Club and Lounge offers beautiful vistas of sunsets and sunrises, supported by four A15 Wide, an A10 Wide, two X8 cabinets, 17 5XT and four KS21 subwoofers. This system is powered by seven LA4X amplified controllers for a premium live music experience.

The audio at the Vista Lounge is provided via two X8 cabinets and an SB15m subwoofer powered by two LA4X.

Torget, a social hub for guests, offers scenic views of the sea, supported by a large LED screen positioned in the centre of the space, extending across two floors. Sound in this area is delivered through an X8 sound system, supported by three 5XTs and four Syva SUB speakers powered by four LA4X controllers.

Alogth’s Bar also harnesses X8 speakers and SB15M subwoofers, offering a cosy place to unwind with a menu of cocktails in a relaxing atmosphere.

The Kobba restaurant is supported by discreet X8 cabinets and four 5XTs to deliver audio that complements the ocean views.

The Market shopping hall features multiple food stalls and enjoys coverage provided by eight 5XT loudspeakers, carefully distributed to provide sufficient coverage.

Lastly, the Viking Glory’s new conference facilities harness 14 conference rooms to accommodate up to 400 people, relying on a system of 12 X8 cabinets and two SB15M subwoofers, amplified by two LA4X controllers.

An L-Acoustics P1 processor and M1 software was used to calibrate and tune the system.

Tuomas Sointula, AV manager, Viking Line, commented: “We are very pleased to bring the industry-renowned L-Acoustics sound signature to the Viking Glory, making it the first ship in Viking Line’s fleet to have an L-Acoustics sound system integrated throughout the entire vessel.

“The sound quality of the system matches the highest standard of this ship’s facilities and is so versatile. Whether you want to enjoy your favourite tunes at the restaurant and bar, organise a conference or dance until dawn at the club, L-Acoustics brings a new level of audio experience which is all part of Viking Line’s promise to deliver the travel experience of tomorrow.”
