French theme park Puy du Fou submits plans for UK site
Historical theme park Puy du Fou has submitted plans for a 692 million Euros Park in the UK, which could open in phases in 2029.

With plans to be situated in Bicester, Oxfordshire, the site may include four period villages and 13 live shows to immerse visitors. The plans also include three hotels based on different periods of British history.

The park aims to open in phases, beginning in 2029. The park claims that it will employ approximately 2,000 people, while supporting an additional 6,000 jobs in hotels, restaurants, suppliers and other local businesses.

Puy du Fou opened its first park in Les Epesses, France, in 1978. Inavate covered the launch of Le Mime et l’Etoile (The Mime and the Star), an attraction at the Puy du Fou theme park that brings the magic of the silent, silver screen to audiences in the flesh, incorporating AV and lighting technologies to bring the world of silent cinema to life with the instantly recognisable traits of the silent cinema era.

The plans coincide with Universal's own plans to open its first theme park in Europe, offering a platform for immersive theme park experiences in the UK. The new park, estimated to create 28,000 jobs at the approximately 476-acre complex could attract 8.5 million visitors in its first year, with the park due to open in 2031.
