Extron AV technology powers multipurpose lecture hall and atrium
Wake Technical Community College in North Carolina, USA, commissioned a high-tech lecture hall and adjacent sunlit atrium to conduct classes and large events, relying on Extron AV technology.

The lecture hall includes a stage, with capacity for an audience of 275. The space plays host to presentations, plays, singing competitions, television broadcasts and more.

Wake Tech worked with integrator, Inter Technologies, to design and install the facility’s AV systems, selecting Extron to supply switching, distribution and control products.

An 8x6 DTP CrossPoint 4K presentation matrix switcher was used to service the lecture hall and atrium, enabling a variety of AV content sources to be shown on the lecture hall’s main on-stage projection screen and on flatpanel displays at the lecture hall entry and in the atrium.

AV content can be presented from the on-stage lectern, from the lecture hall and control booth, using an HDMI wallplate in the atrium, or from stage-facing and audience-facing tracking PTZ cameras in the lecture hall.

For theatrical performances, the control booth handles audio mixing and lighting control with an AV system control station. The control is handled by an IPCP Pro 350 control processor, with TouchLink Pro touchpanels at the lectern and the control booth providing the user interface via GUIs.
