The Walt Disney Company is creating a new division focused on coordinating the company’s use of artificial intelligence and augmented reality throughout its theme park, television, and film divisions.
The new division, titled the Office of Technology Enablement will be spearheaded by Jamie Voris, Disney’s chief technology officer who led the development of Disney’s app for the Apple Vision Pro.
The unit will focus on rapidly advancing areas of technology, including AI and mixed reality, ensuring that projects around the company with its broader strategy.
In an Email seen by Reuters, Alan Bergman, co-chairman, Disney Entertainment, wrote: “The pace and scope of the advances in AI and XR (extended reality) are profound and will continue to impact consumer experiences, creative endeavours and our businesses for years to come - making it critical that Disney explore the exciting opportunities and navigate the potential risks.
"The creation of this group underscores our dedication to doing that."
