Christie projectors shine a light on traditional tea making at Chinese carnival
Christie laser projectors are adding lively visuals and another dimension to the ritual of tea making at a tearoom in Beijing, China.

Dicction (Beijing) Science and Technology Development Co supplied and installed the units as part of a science carnival held at an innovation centre in Zhangjiawan Design Town, a district positioned to become Beijing’s new landmark for the design sector.

Leo Zhang, chief executive officer at Dicction, said: “The end user was looking for a bright, reliable and cost-effective laser projection solution to build an immersive tea arts space that adds a new dimension to this traditional art form.

“At the same time, this installation is aimed at promoting the use of projection technology in Metaverse projects that combine physical and virtual experiences.”

The projectors were fitted discreetly above the tearoom to display a 2.5m x 1.56m image on a large table used for tea brewing, as well as a 4.72m x 2.95m image on an adjacent gauze screen to create an immersive presentation. Content comprises floral and nature-inspired imagery blended harmoniously with the physical objects and space.
