Systems integrator CDEC and digital signage provider RMG Networks have announced that CDEC is now the principle supplier of the SAAS-based content management platform, Korbyt, in the UK education space.
Korbyt combines a mobile application, wayfinding, interactive and personalised signage, and integration with university data systems and real-world triggers such as proximity cards, beacons and camera feeds. The platform offers interactive and intimate communications, and enables live timetabling on a student’s mobile device, live maps to campus events that update in real time, or kiosks that allow video calls to campus reception and security. Using the companion mobile application, KorbytGo, push notifications such as room changes, severe weather warnings or special offers at the student union bar can be instantly received.
Toni Barnett, MD, CDEC, said: “RMG Networks were looking for a partner to break into other vertical markets, being strong themselves in the Retail and Contact Centre spaces, and as soon as we were introduced to Korbyt, we instantly saw the potential of the product for the education sector.
“Korbyt has real value in student recruitment, retention and alumni engagement, as well as staff communications and relationships with the local community. It offers a more engaging and interactive signage experience allowing voting and surveys, and providing real feedback helps differentiate universities at open days and makes prospective students and visitors feel part of the conversation from day one. The ability to instantly message year groups, classes, cohorts and departments improves university communication, helps students and staff feel looked after and allows two-way engagement directly on their own mobile devices.”
