Belgrade Waterworks modernises conferencing with Vitec IPTV platform
Belgrade Waterworks & Sewerage in Serbia has upgraded its conferencing and video distribution infrastructure, deploying an IPTV-based system to improve internal communications across its facilities.

The project, delivered by TRS in partnership with Vitec, replaces a legacy AV control and distribution setup that had become increasingly difficult to maintain. Ageing hardware, limited software support and a reliance on technical staff for every event created operational challenges, particularly as demand for hybrid participation increased.

At the core of the upgrade is Vitec’s Avedia IPTV platform, combined with the ChannelLink gateway to enable capture, encoding and distribution of live conference content across BVK’s network. Operating over a dedicated fibre infrastructure, the system delivers low-latency, secure video streams to multiple endpoints, with media players installed across the main headquarters and three remote sites. This allows management teams to access live presentations without travelling, while recorded sessions are uploaded to BVK’s private YouTube channel for on-demand viewing.

The wider installation brings together a range of AV technologies to standardise workflows and improve usability. An Avonic CM93-IP provides image capture, supporting up to 4K60 resolution, while displays from Samsung and wireless presentation systems from Barco have been integrated into the environment. The existing audio system has been retained and adapted for compatibility with the new infrastructure.

A key requirement for BVK was reducing dependency on specialist operators. The system features an interface designed for non-technical users, alongside remote management capabilities that simplify maintenance and troubleshooting. TRS also delivered on-site training and documentation, enabling BVK’s in-house engineering team to take control of day-to-day operation.

The IPTV architecture has been designed with scalability in mind, allowing BVK to expand to additional locations and introduce new applications such as digital signage or higher-resolution video workflows.

Bakovic Danilo, systems engineer at TRS, said: “By combining Vitec’s reliable Avedia platform with our integration expertise, we delivered a turnkey solution that meets today’s needs and provides a strong foundation for future growth.”

The deployment marks a shift towards a more flexible and resilient communications infrastructure for BVK, supporting both on-site and remote participation while simplifying system management.
