Absen has partnered with Goal Sport to bring high-performance screens to the home of the Stavanger Oilers ice hockey team.
A team in Norway’s top ice hockey division, the Fjordkraftligaen, the Stavanger Oilers sought an upgrade to its antiquated centre cube display at its home stadium, the DNM Arena.
With a capacity for 4,500 spectators for ice hockey matches, the arena required a visually appealing display to enhance the fan experience in the arena.
AV integrator Goal Sport was brought on board to deliver a turnkey installation for the arena’s new central visual display, selecting Absen displays to power the central visual display.
Goal Sport chose Absen’s K3 Plus for its flat design, flexible installation and front/rear maintenance options. The screens were customised with a 3.9mm pixel pitch to bring higher brightness and an improved refresh rate for optimal visibility from all angles.
The integrator also worked closely with its Norwegian partner, VideoForce, to upgrade the content management system for in-broadcasting and video officiating applications.
Four K3 Plus screens were installed in a convex design, with each screen measuring 6mx7m, creating 168m2 of LED. The centre cube provides a 20% larger surface area, with edge-to-edge LED at a slight tilt of two degrees for a clear view.
The lower two metres of the centre cube can be dismantled to accommodate events with varying height requirements, enabling the arena to host a wide range of events including music concerts, circuses, and indoor motocross, while still utilising the centre cube display.
Goal Sport also delivered a complete software system with venture control GS replay, GS playout for graphics, GS timekeeper for ice hockey games, GS scoreboard, and an iOS app for game clock visualisation within the dressing rooms.
