Church says goodbye to ceiling speakers

Since opening its doors in June of 1965, Wichita’s Metropolitan Baptist Church has been a vital part of its community, offering a range of services, classes and other events. In 1983 the church added the Jesse Vardaman Fellowship Hall, a multipurpose venue that has seen near-constant use over the years. But with a very rudimentary 70 volt distributed sound system and budget grade ceiling speakers, the hall has long struggled with intelligibility issues.

Shure in Rio Carnival

Earlier in the year, thousands of dancers in full make-up and bright costumes, along with hundreds of elaborate floats accompanied by musicians and rolling PA trucks blasting samba music marched down Rio’s famed Sambódromo in celebration of this year’s Carnival. Shure microphones were heavily involved in vocalising the passion of the week-long event that marks the beginning of Lent.

Viking Line sets sail with Scala signage

Viking Line, a Finnish operator of ferries and cruise ferries, has partnered with digital signage software provider Scala to implement digital signs onboard its seven vessels. The digital signage features both informational and ad-based programming, and reaches passengers at various points on its ships.

Videowall recruits football players

CubeX Video has provided a 3x3 HD LCD video wall for the newly renovated Memorial Stadium at the University of Illinois in Champaign. The university's football program uses the video wall, installed in the recruiting lounge at the stadium's north end, to show student-athletes football highlights, information about the facilities and academic offerings available at the university, and live video from football games around the NCAA.

D.A.S. in Spanish festivities

D.A.S. Aero systems were used at “La Galanía”, an event held in Castellón in honour of the Queen of the Magdalena Festivities, María Mulet Ripollés. The event took place at La Pérgola Exhibition Centre and included a live show made up by a series of passages which portrayed the origins of the city of Castellón, its patron saint’s “troballa” and the role of the matrons, ladies-in-waiting and the queen of the festivities.

Conference centre goes for EV
