Modulo Pi has released Version 7 of Modulo Kinetic, marking ten years since the media server platform was first launched.
The update introduces a range of workflow enhancements across 3D study, mapping, playback, interactivity and show control, as Modulo Pi continues to position Kinetic as an all-in-one platform for complex visual productions.
Launched in 2016, Modulo Kinetic is used across corporate events, live shows, projection mapping, immersive venues and theme parks. Version 7 expands the platform’s ability to bring multiple production tools into a single environment, reducing reliance on separate systems across design, simulation and operation.
The release includes improved support for multi-screen workflows and expanded 3D capabilities, including native support for formats such as Cinema 4D and SketchUp, as well as point cloud data. Integrated prefab assets have also been added to help users prepare projects more efficiently.
Projection workflows have been updated with full 3D models of projectors, including lenses and frames, alongside refined editing tools and direct 3D pre-warping. An optional 3D auto-calibration module automates multi-projector blending and warping to reduce setup time.
Version 7 also introduces LED study and simulation, supported by a database of more than 2,000 LED panel models. This allows users to simulate real-world LED panels with accurate pitch representation during the design phase.
For interactive projects, the update adds 3D LiDAR simulation, allowing users to visualise sensor coverage, beam emission and occlusions before installation. A new tracking and crowd simulator enables testing of audience behaviour and generative content in advance of deployment.
Media management has also been improved through broader format support, automated file synchronisation with remote servers and integrated content versioning.
The platform’s real-time processing capabilities have been expanded with more than 150 new GPU-powered effects for low-latency visual treatment, while interactivity tools now include spatially triggered video playback, an improved particle engine and a multi-user particle system.
Modulo Kinetic’s embedded show control environment has also been upgraded with improved interface design tools, advanced user management and integration with ISAAC, a web-based AV monitoring and control platform.
The Version 7 release is available now.
