Lightware has expanded its Gemini GVN 1G AV-over-IP family with the GVN-HC-TX220AP, a new transmitter designed for USB-C-led collaboration spaces.
The device introduces full-featured USB-C connectivity to the Gemini GVN range, allowing video, USB 2.0 data, 2x2 channel audio and Ethernet to be carried over a single connection. It also supports up to 100W Power Delivery when powered by an external PSU.
The transmitter is designed for meeting rooms and collaboration environments where users increasingly connect through USB-C laptops, while allowing organisations to retain existing 1Gb network infrastructure.
For rooms requiring a second input, the unit provides a secondary host path combining HDMI 2.0 with USB-C for USB 2.0 data, 2x2 audio and Ethernet. Configurable auto-select can switch between USB-C and HDMI host inputs based on signal presence or priority.
The USB-C input supports up to 4K60 4:4:4 video with audio, while the Gemini GVN platform delivers 4K60 at 3ms latency. Network connectivity options include dual RJ45 ports and an SFP cage, supporting both copper and fibre-based installations.
USB-over-IP support allows connection of HID devices, webcams, microphones and speakerphones. The transmitter also includes a bidirectional USB audio interface on both host inputs, an uncompressed HDMI 2.0 loop-out for local monitoring and a stereo analogue audio port with selectable input or output operation.
Lightware will also offer the GVN-HC-TX220AP-DNT variant, adding 2-channel bidirectional Dante for audio routing between HDMI, analogue, USB and Dante networks.
The transmitter integrates with Lightware’s GVN Matrix Management Unit for auto-discovery, centralised configuration, EDID management and monitoring, and can be powered via PoE or PoE+.
Gergely Vida, CEO at Lightware, said: “With the GVN-HC-TX220AP, we are extending Gemini GVN to meet the reality of USB-C-first collaboration, bringing full-featured USB-C together with low-latency 1G AV-over-IP.”
