Created by Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), the AI Aquarium is the world’s first smart aquarium that can recognise aquatic species and show corresponding information on a transparent display.
The AI Aquarium system is in use at Taiwan's National Museum of Marine Science and Technology. The AI tech can identify marine species and display corresponding information in real time. The aquarium uses AR to dynamically display information of marine life, with a biological database AI Aquarium can detect and identify moving aquatic species with an accuracy of 98%. It can remove complicated factors such as water clarity, ambinet light, water, underwater light and the fish's movements.
The system can track the user's line of sight showing the name of a certain fish on a large transparent display. The 3D depth sensing camera can precisely measure the location that the user is watching regardless of the user's height.
For gesture control users can interact with AI Aquarium by performing different hand gestures in front of the display.
