Lightware has announced SNMPv3-based monitoring support for selected Taurus devices, available via firmware v1.20.0.
The update allows IT administrators and AV integrators to incorporate Taurus endpoints into existing, industry-standard network and device monitoring environments.
The Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is used for collecting device information and supporting IT system monitoring and management, where SNMP monitoring tools can track common parameters such as uptime and interface status and also support dashboards, reports, and alerts within the monitoring solution’s own user interface.
IT administrators can monitor Taurus UCX, Taurus TPX, and Taurus TPN devices for access and system health, as well as network interface status information without needing to use specific API interfaces.
Taurus devices can now be monitored using established SNMP manager systems already deployed in many IT environments, such as SolarWinds, Zabbix, and Nagios.
Lightware also provides Taurus-specific SNMP elements via MIB parameters including device label, serial number, CPU temperature, motherboard health status, and link status.
SNMP must first be enabled and configured on the Lightware device via LDC/WebLDC or REST API. Authentication type and password setup is handled via the REST API. Once configured, the SNMP manager can be set to pull status parameters regularly and support custom dashboards and alerting based on the organisation’s monitoring standards.
