VBrick has emerged as the leading vendor in the world enterprise video transcoder market according to a Frost and Sullivan white paper.
The paper, titled ‘An Introduction to the World Enterprise Video Transcoders Market’, explores market for transcoding technologies, described as technologies that deal with the “process of taking video in a digital format and converting it appropriately into other digital formats suitable for distribution over multiple media to various devices”.
Frost and Sullivan claims the enterprise video transcoders market comprised more than $90 million (€60 million) in 2009. It also estimates that the market will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of more than 12 per cent from 2009 and 2015.
The consultancy body pinpointed a number of factors that would contribute to the growth, including increasing adoption of Video-on-Demand (VOD) and High-Definition (HD) content within various enterprise communication applications. Furthermore it said non-traditional enterprise segments, such as community groups, public agencies and houses of worship, would increasingly make use of video, spurring further growth.
Leading vendors, according to Frost and Sullivan, include Haivision, Optibase, Telestream, VBrick Systems and ViewCast. It said VBrick Systems was “a clear leader with nearly 25 per cent market share”.
