Sarner to design major exhibition for Museum of Literature / Children’s Book Museum
Sarner has announced that it has been appointed by the Museum of Literature / Children’s Book Museum in The Netherlands, designing two distinct exhibition areas as part of the museum’s relocation.

Moving from The Hague to the centre of Utrecht, the Museum of Literature / Children’s Book Museum will reopen with a complete suite of interactive and immersive exhibitions designed to engage visitors of all ages.

The new commission will See Sarner built on its portfolio, creating both a dynamic, interactive exhibition for adult audiences, and a dramatic immersive installation within the museum’s medieval vaults, creating two distinctive experiences that celebrate Dutch literary heritage.

The upper floors of the museum will see Sarner deliver an object-rich exhibition that celebrates the museum’s collection of literary artifacts, taking a thematic approach to exploring stories and creative expression.

The exhibition will feature interactive media, tactile installations, and immersive storytelling, where guests will create a personal reading profile which discreetly tracks their interactions throughout the exhibition. This culminates in a personalised list of literary recommendations, with three immersive “story boxes” that invite visitors to experience and discover stories through different perspectives.

The immersive vault experience will see the venue’s medieval vaults play host to a multisensory installation that connects visitors to Dutch literary heritage on an emotional level by reimagining the museum’s literary archive.

Each vault explores themes that have inspired writers throughout time, showcasing the museum’s archive through set design, digital storytelling, soundscapes, lighting, and sensory effects.

Visitors will be invited to step inside the minds of writers, and to reflect on the forces that inspire artistic expression.

The interactive exhibition and immersive vault installation will function as stand-alone attractions, forming a unified journey through Dutch literature.
