Nexo P+ series installed in French theatre project by Avril Audiovisuel
An audio upgrade featuring the Nexo Nexo P+ series, has taken place at Esplanade du Lac, a modern theatre staging a wide range of productions spanning dance, comedy, theatre, circus and music in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France.

The recent replacement of the sound system in the main 500-seat auditorium represented a significant long-term investment for the theatre and, as such, the technical team chose to test different configurations and speakers from several manufacturers before putting the project out to tender.

The team had heard about a successful installation at the Grand Théâtre of the Centre Culturel d’Oyonnax made by Avril Audiovisuel, so asked the Bourg-en-Bresse based AV technology specialists to demo a new system during a scheduled performance.

“In addition to quality, the system needed to provide consistent sound coverage across the entire audience, both in terms of frequency and sound pressure level, while minimising its visual impact” report Avril Audiovisuel owners and partners Romain Raffini and Hervé Frachet.

“It also had to be able to accommodate a wide range of performances, from headliners with amplified or acoustic music to ballets and one-man shows. Together with the Nexo technical team, we designed a multi-source system that met all these requirements, while also considering the venue’s constraints.

Drawn primarily from Nexo’s P+ Series point source range, the winning tender at the Esplanade du Lac comprises left and right clusters of a P15 flown beneath an L18 sub, with 1 x P8 in the centre, 2 x P8s infill for the side channels, and 2 x ID24s for the first few rows in the centre. A delay line in LCR composed of 3 x P12s ensures consistent, time-aligned coverage of the auditorium.
