Texas Instruments has announced a new DLP display controller far smaller than previous versions, which can drive a new generation of more compact 4K UHD projectors.
Measuring 9mm by 9mm, or the width of a pencil eraser, TI's DLPC8445 display controller is the smallest of its kind. Working with a compatible digital micromirror device (DMD) and a suitable light source, the technology enables 4K visuals at 100 diagonal inches in size.
It is also the first DLP controller designed for laser-illuminated battery-powered projectors. The DLPC8445 controller is available to manufacturers now.
