Nascar has tasked immersive audio provider, Mixhalo, to develop a live audio fan experience through the Nascar Tracks app, believed to be the first motorsports organisation to adopt the technology.
The in-ear audio experience will replace an existing scanner headset implementation, instead using mobile phones and headphones to allow fans to listen in on communication among drivers, crew chiefs, spotters and officials during races.
The new audio feature is set to be available at select races towards the end of the 2023 season. No race confirmation has been made, however the announcement follows Nascar’s upgrade to high capacity WiFi 6 at six of its circuits.
