Microsoft has announced that users can now set up and host immersive Metaverse meetings directly through Microsoft Teams, hosting other users in a 3D space.
The new feature, immersive events, allows users to host Metaverse avatars in a 3D space, where each attendee’s avatar can explore the space, chat to speakers, and feel present.
With immersive events built directly into Teams, users can plan, manage, and host immersive experiences using Teams tools such as Teams calendar, chat, and collaboration features.
Users can open Teams to schedule an immersive event, and design a space for attendees.

This can manifest as informal discussions and lecture-style engagements, allowing users to share content, lobby experiences, and attendee interactions.
More sophisticated tools for audience engagement are included, with presenters able to trigger animations, play audio or video, reveal content, and switch visuals on the fly.
The announcement follows the retirement of Microsoft Mesh as a standalone platform, which was discontinued in December 2025.
