Marquee AV has completed a technically ambitious audio installation at &Soul, Shoreditch, London. &Soul is a newly launched wellness and cultural venue housed in a restored Victorian textile warehouse.
&Soul offers a diverse programme of movement classes, sound journeys, live events, and immersive experiences, including the UK’s first “rave-in-a-sauna.” To support this multifaceted offering, Marquee AV was commissioned to design and install a venue-wide sound system capable of delivering high-quality audio across a range of acoustically and environmentally challenging spaces.
Based on the challenges, posed by this venue, Marquee AV selected Bose Professional audio products for the bulk of the install. The installation spans several key areas of the venue:
- The Soul Room – A 194 sqm double-height event space equipped with Bose Professional DesignMax DM8S loudspeakers and DM10S subwoofers, finished in custom RAL Macore Red to match the interior. A Pioneer DJ system was also installed to support live performances.
- The Sensorium Spa – Featuring the “SUN” sauna, a 40-person circular Aufguss space, and the “MOON” mist room. Marquee AV specified heat- and humidity-resistant Bose Professional FS4SEs and DM10S subwoofers for the sauna, and FS2SEs with FS3 bass modules for the mist room, ensuring durability and immersive sound in extreme conditions.
- The Sanctuary & Heart Studio – Covering over 3,200 sqm, this wellness hub includes a 100 sqm mezzanine studio fitted with FS2SEs and FS3 modules for movement classes and workshops.
- Reception, Café, and Lounges – Background audio is delivered via FreeSpace FS2Ps, creating a consistent and calming sound environment throughout communal areas.
The project required close collaboration with &Soul’s architectural and design teams to ensure seamless integration of AV hardware with the venue’s handcrafted interiors. Custom speaker finishes and discreet mounting solutions were employed to maintain aesthetic harmony without compromising audio performance.
The sauna installation posed a unique challenge, demanding components that could withstand fluctuating high temperatures and humidity. Marquee AV sourced and tested heat-tolerant equipment to ensure long-term reliability and acoustic clarity.
