This further enhances Drees & Sommer’s digital expertise, as macom has established itself as a consulting and engineering company in Europe for AV and IT systems for hybrid work, learning, brand and retail spaces. The two companies have long been working closely together in a strategic partnership.

Founded in 2003, macom has developed into one of Europe’s leading service providers for media technology, IT planning, and technology consulting for digital transformation. With an over 80-strong team of engineers and consultants, it supports numerous medium-sized enterprises and DAX companies as well as public institutions – including BMW, Fresenius, Schüco, STIHL, Beiersdorf and various European Union organisations – with the development of digital strategies and AV and IT solutions.

Headquartered in Stuttgart, the company has branch offices in Berlin, Eislingen/Fils, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne, Munich and London. The Eislingen regional office also features a custom-built media technology and digital laboratory with an area of more than 400 square metres. Engineers share the macomLAB with customers, research partners and manufacturers to develop and test systems for hybrid work, learning, brand and retail spaces.

“Demand for digitised, flexible and hybrid work, communication and collaboration systems is constantly increasing. Drees & Sommer’s 100-percent shareholding in macom is an important element of our strategy of further expanding our pioneering role in the digitization of the construction and real estate industries. macom’s proven expertise in the area of networked, modular system architectures that combine IT/media technology and Smart Building components further enhance our strengths,” says Dierk Mutschler, member of the executive board of Drees & Sommer SE.

Headquartered in Stuttgart, Drees & Sommer currently employs more than 4,500 people at 51 locations worldwide. In 2021, Drees & Sommer generated sales of €575 million.

Björn Jensen, the founder of macom, commented: “Following the successful growth of macomGroup in recent years and the establishment of an outstanding team, Drees & Sommer is our partner of choice to continue the company’s strategic roadmap and realise macom’s vision of becoming the European market leader. Drees & Sommer has the necessary structures in place and a clearly defined corporate strategy that is a perfect fit with macom’s path to date.”
