Genelec has released Smart IP Controller 2.0, a redesigned mobile app for controlling its Smart IP loudspeaker installations.
Available for iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, the app is designed to simplify day-to-day control of small-scale audio-over-IP installations, particularly in hospitality and retail environments.
The updated version introduces a new user interface developed to make system control faster and more intuitive for both end users and integrators. It allows users to view and manage loudspeaker zones, with individual controls for each zone.
Installation is guided through a setup process that automatically discovers loudspeaker zones on the network. Users can then assign some or all preconfigured zones within the app, creating a tailored control experience.
Core functions include volume, mute and power control, alongside access to profiles created in Genelec’s Smart IP Manager software. These profiles allow users to recall EQ, level and input settings configured for specific spaces or applications.
The app can also be used on multiple control devices at the same time, supporting flexible operation in venues with more than one user or control point.
Aki Mäkivirta, R&D director at Genelec, said: “The new app provides a natural extension of the Smart IP system, giving users flexible, reliable control in most installations without the need to invest in automation systems or network technology-specific training.”
Genelec said the update reflects user feedback and forms part of its effort to make Smart IP installed audio systems more accessible across a wider range of applications.
