Genelec loudspeakers have empowered a multi-sensory experience at Gatehead’s Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art (Baltic), exploring the themes of motherhood, class, and labour.
Integrator ArtAV took on the job. A long-standing collaborator with Baltic, the integrator coordinated with the Baltic team and artist Hannah Perry to deliver a clear translation of the artist’s vision.
?A powerful sound system was needed, while remaining visually discreet to Perry’s exhibition, Manual Labour, which aims to explore themes of motherhood in a layered, immersive experience.
The exhibition is home to a Genelec 12.1 sound system, comprised of 12 8330 loudspeakers and a 7070 subwoofer.
Each loudspeaker emits a unique soundscape, ranging from deep rumbles, to ringing chimes, and piano music, supported by ambisonics audio techniques.
Genelec’s GLM loudspeaker management software aims to fine-tune the frequency response, playback level and distance delay of each loudspeaker to compensate for the gallery’s acoustics.
