Organisers of the Digital Signage Summit Europe have reported nearly 700 attendees at the 2017 conference and exhibition, making it the largest event in its 11-year history.
The figures also mark an increase of 53% on last year’s attendance and come as DSS Europe moves to a new home at the ICM - Internationales Congress Center München.
Digital signage, retail experience, DooH and smart cities were all explored through keynotes, presentations and panels at the conference. A twin-track programme offered market intelligence on new products and technologies and their application in the real world.
The role that digital signage will play in the evolution of the ‘bricks and mortar’ store and how retail businesses might engage with the consumer in light of digital competition was a central theme.
Florian Rotberg, DSS Europe chairman and invidis consulting managing director, said: “For retail we are looking at integrated, holistic solutions, engaging customers in innovative and flexible ways. Digital Signage will be right at the heart of the in-store offering whether it’s being used to deliver information, storytelling or entertainment.”
He continued: “With the coming together of content, big data, and programmatic we will see the transformation of the Digital out of Home marketplace. The result of this will be the increased personalisation of Digital Signage in this sector.”
The exhibition area offered more space to the more than 30 sponsors and welcomed additional exhibitors.
Integrated Systems Events, producer of the ISE exhibition, work with invidis consulting to stage the DSS and the company’s managing director Mike Blackman said: “The largest numbers of attendees, exhibitors and sponsors have ensured that DSS Europe remains a key destination for the digital signage community. The Digital Signage Summit will return to ISE in 2018 and will take place in Amsterdam on February 7.
