Creative Technology scoops award for Beijing Games
Creative Technology (CT) saw off competition from Atos Origin and Hawk-Eye Innovations to win the Technology award at the 2nd SportBusiness Sports Event Management Awards.

CT picked up the gold award for its involvement in the Opening Ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games. The company designed and delivered processing and switching requirements used on the video LED floor and scrolls.

Dave Crump, managing director, Creative Technology London, said: “Being recognised by industry peers is the highest compliment, it also sends such a wonderful message to our dedicated team, who I know work tirelessly to deliver such complex projects.“

The Beijing Olympic Games Organising Committee also received a Gold Award for the Opening Ceremony and there was a gold for OBS, the broadcast organisation, again for work at the Games.

This year’s SportBusiness Sports Event Management Awards attracted 150 entries from individuals and organisations worldwide.

Nigel Rushman, chairman of the Awards organiser Rushmans, said: “We were delighted with the response and the quality of the wining entries which truly reflect the levels of dedication, skill and professionalism which shape the world’s major sports events.”

Phil Savage, publishing director of title sponsors SportBusiness Group added: “We were again delighted to be an integral part of an event which recognised the fantastic contribution and achievements of the unsung heroes of the sports world.

“Spectators at live events or on television may take excellent event organisation and presentation for granted. Yet in reality every event is the result of meticulous planning, technical innovation and a creative approach to solving problems which may, at first, appear insurmountable.”
