Christie’s 3DLP and 1DLP laser projectors have been used in a new, night-time tourist attraction bringing the legends of Jiuge-Shangui to life.
Inspired by stories in the “Chu Ci” poetry anthology, the nocturnal tourist attraction combines the legends of Xiangxi with the cultural heritage of the Tujia and Miao peoples in the large-scale venue, incorporating live performances across a scenic locale that spans five-sq.-km.
To light the space, almost a dozen Crimson WU31, DWU2022-HS and DWU1612-HS laser projectors were supplied by Christie’s partner, Jianye Display.
The projectors are housed in weatherproof enclosures overlooking the stage areas, delivering vibrant visuals at several performance venues that are interconnected via plank roads. The spaces are brought to life with 3D projections, lighting, ‘holography’ and water effects to create a multisensorial experience.
Zhongliang Li, technical director for southern Chin, Jianye Display, commented: “As the first large-scale show in the post-pandemic era, we have pulled out all the stops to ensure that this massive outdoor spectacle is a great success. The Christie Crimson and HS Series laser projectors, with their rugged design, impeccable performance and dependability, are our preferred choice for this major endeavour.”
