Avantis Education appoints new leadership team
Avantis Education has appointed a new leadership team in a move to support its continued expansion in global markets.

Huw Williams takes on the role of CEO following the move by the former CEO moving into a non-executive director role.

Williams takes on the role with more than 20 years of experience in the education technology industry, spending nine years of his career heading up the global sales and marketing function at Avantis, where Williams helped to develop a number of the company’s innovations including the Eduverse content engine that powers Avantis’ ClassVR system.

In this new role, Williams has made a suite of executive appointments, retaining Dr Rupert Rawnsley as chief science officer and Wes Paetel as chief operations officer.

Alistair Hayward holds the role as chief revenue officer, previously holding senior leadership roles with several blue-chip brands including Xerox, Hewlett Packard and Granada Learning.

In the newly created role of chief marketing officer, Gillian Rhodes joins 18 years of experience in marketing and education technology, with a passion for driving transformation. Rhodes leads the team that drives Avantis’ marketing strategy and brand positioning, demand generation and all aspects of product and corporate marketing. In a prior role at Promethean, Rhodes was responsible for developing international markets alongside regional sales VPs.

Joining as chief finance officer, David Walters brings 24 years of experience as a finance director, working across several sectors both in the UK and overseas. Walters previously led a global finance team spanning 12 countries, multiple fund-raising initiatives and a large international private equity sale. Walters will head up the HR function for the group as well as finance.

Lastly, Bruce Grove takes over as chief technology officer, leading the technology strategy and teams for Avantis, joining with a broad spectrum of experience from a varied career spanning aerospace engineering, telecoms, cloud computing, and video game engines and platforms.
