The Cocor Shopping Centre in Bucharest has unveiled a major upgrade to its massive digital signage display. The installation, a well-known feature of the city's urban landscape, has been revitalised with LED from Absen.
This landmark project was executed by local AV integration firm, ELTEK, showcasing the synergy between international innovation and regional technical expertise to deliver a visual experience for the city's residents and visitors. The project has transformed the facade, upgrading its visual performance, energy efficiency, and operational reliability to meet modern standards of performance.
For years, the Cocor centre’s facade had been a symbol of dynamic urban advertising in Bucharest. However, its existing LED system, based on older technology, had become difficult and expensive to maintain. The system's high energy consumption and frequent technical issues made it inefficient and unable to support modern visual digital campaigns. Additionally, the outdated content management system lacked modern automation features, further limiting its capabilities.
The client initially wanted to replace the old equipment, but a technical analysis revealed that the existing mounting structure was incompatible with new-generation displays. This led to a larger project to completely rebuild the facade's physical and digital infrastructure. The project included dismantling the old system, redesigning the supporting structure, and installing a new cutting edge, technical solution. This new system is designed to operate 24/7, providing centralised control, synchronised playback, and real-time adaptability.
ELTEK, Romania and the Balkan Region’s largest AV/IT systems integrator, led the transformation, beginning with the full technical analysis, expanding the project scope from equipment replacement to a complete reconstruction of the media infrastructure. This required ELTEK’s specialist teams, including certified utility climbers, to dismantle the outdated system and redesign the supporting structure using modular Sikla components, ensuring mechanical compatibility, safety, and aesthetic integration.
