Bayer had identified communication and collaboration as key requirements for their office complex in Thane, India. Hurrairah bin Sohail finds out how Actis made Bayer’s vision a reality.
Bayer has established a reputation as one of the world’s leading innovators in agricultural sciences. The company opened a new office for Cropscience at Bayer House, Hiranandani Estate in the Indian city of Thane. Integrator Actis was brought on board to ensure that the AV needs of the new premises were handled.
From the start, the AV requirements were made clear. Sachin Karekar, zonal manager of key accounts at Actis, says: “The Bayer team wanted to create collaboration facilities that were on par with their international offices and standards and deploy the latest collaboration and AV technologies."
He continues: “We had to design a centrally operated and monitored network and facility for easier AV signal management, which will be handled by Bayer’s IT team. Also the end-user requested for minimum breakages and alterations to the interiors which had already been designed before our team comes on board.â€
There were also specific requirements when it came to the products chosen. Karekar explains: “Since Bayer has a corporate tie-up, via their German head office, for the use of Extron products in their facilities, they wanted to build the facility around Extron’s solutions in particular.â€
Actis was solely responsible for the handling of the project. Karekar says: “This is a design and build project undertaken entirely by the Actis team and there was no consultant involved. We have worked jointly with the Extron team and client teams on some aspects of the design requirement since Extron provided several of the key components in the project.â€
