The Phoenix College has opened the Maricopa IT institute, using an Extron AV switching and control system to support lesson delivery.
The system also works as a testbed for students to get hands-on lab experience, with more than 150 pieces of Extron equipment used in the IT institute’s AV systems.
All classrooms at the instititue feature an instructor podium that supplies AV program content from a PC, document camera or external sources, using an Extron IN1804 or IN1806 presentation switcher in the podium to select sources.
Content is fed to podium touchscreen display via HDMI, with the in-room displays supplied via shielded twisted pair cable using Extron DTP trasnmitters and receivers.
The podiums feature a TLP Pro 725M 7-in touchpanel that works with an IPCP Pro control processor to control system power, source selection, volume and the projection screen.
FF 220T wide dispersion speakers are also present, driven by XPA 1002 amplifiers for consistent sound levels. Additionally, OCS 100C occupancy sensors automatically turn off all classroom technology when the rooms are empty.
