Tannoy unveiled its VLS Series passive column array loudpeaker series at ISE in Amsterdam last week.
The range incorporates FAST (Focussed Asymmetrical Shaping Technology and comprises three models. It provides asymmetrical vertical dispersion to shape the acoustic coverage toward the lower quadrant of the vertical axis.
FAST is also designed to facilitate quicker, easier installation with less need for tilting or specific concern for optimal mounting height.
Qflex transducer technology has been adapted for the new range, which has a new passive crossover network design.
The product has a slender and narrow profile with a powder-coated aluminium chassis with curvilinear aluminium grille.
Each model is available in either black or white as standard and custom RAL finishes are available at additional cost and lead-time.
Three models are available – VLS 7 (7 × 3.5″ LF) designed for speech-only applications, VLS 15 (7 × 3.5″ LF with 8 × 1″ HF) and VLS 30 (14 × 3.5″ LF and 16 × 1″ HF), both of which are designed for more demanding full-range applications as well as speech. All are IP64 rated for dust and water ingress and are salt spray and UV resistant as well as subject to rigourous high/low operational temperature and humidity testing.
The VLS Series is suitable for indoor applications such as houses of worship, shopping centres and auditoriums. Additional it can be used in covered outdoor environments such as transport hubs and concourses.
Products can be mounted by supplied wall-brackets.
A Tannoy edition of EASE Focus v2.0 software allows consultants to design systems and specify VLS Series in conjunction with Tannoy’s existing column loudspeakers – including I Series and Qflex.
VLS Series is shipping June.
