Philips incorporates Smart Insert for signage

MMD, the company behind Philips branded LCD monitors and public signage solutions, has launched a new Smart Insert solution which allows a small form factor (SFF) PC or media device to be inserted discreetly at the back of a display.

To complement the Smart Insert range, MMD has partnered with SFF PC manufacturer AOpen and developed a special bracket to fit the form factor of its Digital Engines range.

No extra depth is added to the installation as Smart Insert allows enough depth for most small PCs and when there is a problem with the PC, there is only the cost of PC replacement, not of full display.

Customers can decide to use their own choice of industrial PCs and/or software solutions and the AC out connector is able to provide power to external devices of up to 200 watts.

Philips Smart Insert is currently available on the following models: BDL4251V, BDL5231V. From March 2010 it will be available on the BDL4230E and on the BDL6551V from April 2010.
